Via Jezebel, a great sentiment from Sarah Silverman about fat jokes. Definitely helps lift my mood from its earlier state.

I agree with what you say. I was one of those kids who was punished if I didn’t clean my plate, but my extended family also had the pathology of looking down on me if I didn’t have 2nds and 3rds. Food is love, you know.
There was a lot of food I learned to eat just to make my family happy. As a consequence, I don’t force food on my kids. I have one child who is a staunch avoider of fruit and veggies, so I sneak it into his diet through juice or hid it in dishes where he either doesn’t see it, or finds it doesn’t bother him so much. There’s a lot of ways around a picky kid without force feeding them.
