On All Things Considered today, I learned about a fifth-grader from Allegan, MI, Kenton Stufflebeam, who noticed an error in a display at the Smithsonian Natural History Museum. His comments to the museum led to correction of the error.

Apparently the long-standing Tower of Time exhibit listed the “Precambrian Era,” and as he shared with Robert Siegel in the interview, Stufflebeam realized the designation was incorrect because he remembered his teacher emphasizing the fact that due to its extremely long duration, the Precambrian is not referred to as an era (Siegel added that the correct term is “supereon”). The audio of the interview is also very enjoyable. 🙂 Great job, Kenton!
